Never A Dull Moment

I was lonely last night so I called Steph and Ladd and conned them into letting me keep the babies overnight. I used the excuse that since they were both tired after a busy weekend, Nana would be nice and give them a break. But in truth they knew my motive was purely selfish.

Ladd brought the kids over about 8:30 and we played until midnight. I gave them flashlights to take outside and the shrubs and bushes became forests in the jungle to them. Later the flashlights became torches. They have such imaginations. We watched movies and colored and finally just went to bed and snuggled. I slept like a baby. There is just nothing better than snuggling with your grandkids. Luckily they slept until 9 am so we actually got some sleep.

I promised to take them to McDonald’s for breakfast but they were wrapped up in cartoons and wanted to go to McDonald’s for lunch. I took them to the one that has a playground and Currin had me climbing with him. Now in all honesty I am way too old to be climbing up a kids playhouse but who cares. This afternoon I could, I did and I enjoyed it. Abby came up with us and we climbed and turned and twisted. Currin looked at me and said “see Nana, you’re not old”. Nope baby, not with you guys.

Abby and Currin got into it this morning and he bit her on the wrist. Uh oh – time out for Currin. At McDonald’s Abby scratched him down the arm. Time out for Abby. They are typical brother and sister but for the most part adore each other. They do have their moments and both went home with battle scars tonight.

Currin likes to pick up doodlebugs and watch them curl up in his hand. This afternoon he came running with both hands cupped and said “Nana, I have a bee”. I jumped up and as I started to grab his hands he grinned and said “I’m just teasing you”. Thanks for the heart attack Currin. 🙂

Charlie, my one a half year old Cocker loves these babies. He gets so excited when they are here and the first thing he does is pick up one of his balls and take it to them to play. If they ignore him, he will drop it first in Abby’s lap, then Currin’s and repeats this process until one of them decides to throw the ball for him. They sure wear him out which makes for a quieter evening for Nana. Abby is especially good with him and has helped me train him. I’m going to have to get her a top with pockets to hold the treats : But he sure sits and listens to her.

Abby loves to walk him outside so he can go “potty”. The funny thing is when she takes him out he doesn’t fool around. He does his thing and is ready to come back in. With me he takes his good old time. I guess he wants to get business over with so he can play.
